וכן מדת מלכות כהן גדול ביום שביעי לפרישתו מתקן אותה באם חס ושלום פגם בה איזה אדם. וזה שכתוב (דהי"א כט, יא) לך ה' הגדולה כו', ועל פי זה יבואר הגמרא (יומא ט.) ללשכת פרהדרין ומקשה בגמרא מאי פרהדרין כו' עיין שם, ובו יבואר הפסוק (ישעיה מ, לא) וקוי ה' יחליפו כח יעלו אבר כנשרים, כי האדם צריך להעלות על מחשבתו תמיד שבכל רגע ורגע הבורא ברוך הוא ברוב חסדיו וברוב רחמיו נותן לו חיות חדש וכל רגע ורגע הבורא ברוך הוא מחדשו:
וזהו דאמרינן בגמרא כל הנשמה כו' (תהלים קנ, ו) על כל נשימה ונשימה תהלל יה, דהיינו שבכל רגע הנשמה רוצה לצאת ממנו והקדוש ברוך הוא ברוב רחמיו בכל רגע ורגע משגיח על האדם ומרחם עליו ואינו מניח להנשמה לצאת ממנו. ונמצא לפי זה כשאדם מעלה על מחשבתו תמיד הבחינה הזאת הוא בכל רגע ורגע בריה חדשה ויש לו התלהבות לעבודת הבורא ברוך הוא, כי לדבר החדש והמחודש יש התלהבות וכיון שהוא נעשה בכל רגע ורגע מחודש יש לו התלהבות גדולה לעבודת הבורא ברוך הוא. ויש אדם שאינו מעלה על מחשבתו הבחינה אמיתיית הזאת ומעלה על מחשבתו שחס ושלום אין הקדוש ברוך הוא מחדשו בכל רגע ורגע ומעלה על מחשבתו כיון שברא אותו הקדוש ברוך הוא בתחילה שוב אינו מחדש אותו בכל רגע ורגע ולזה אין לו התלהבות לעבוד את הבורא ברוך הוא, כי דבר תמידי אין תענוג כלל ומחמת זה לפעמים נופל ממדריגתו ואחרי זה כשמתחיל לעבוד את הבורא יש לו התלהבות גדול:

...We must always try to bring to our consciousness that from moment to moment (kol rega v'rega), the Blessed Creator, in great love and mercy, instills in us a new vital force, from moment to moment, the Blessed Creator renews our very being. This is what the rabbis meant when they said, "Let each and every breath praise the Lord" (Genesis Rabbah 14:10).That is, at each moment the breath seeks to leave us, and the Holy One, in great mercy, watches over us from moment to moment and has compassion for us, and does not let the breath depart. In this manner, when we raise up our thoughts from moment to moment, we actually are created anew as a new creature. This generates a sense of enthusiasm in the service of the Blessed Creator, since everything that is new or renewed burns more powerfully. And since we are created anew from moment to moment, we can burn with that sense of enthusiasm in the service of the holy Creator.
But there are those who do not raise up their thoughts to this truth, who actually think (Heaven forbid) that the Holy Blessed One does not renew them in each and every moment. They think that once the Holy Blessed One created the world, God no longer is engaged in making it new again in each moment. For this reason, they do not experience any enthusiasm in serving the Blessed Creator, for whatever is unchanging is also uninteresting and lacking in delight. For this reason, they fall from whatever spiritual degree they may have attained. But afterward, when they start out again to serve God, they actually do experience a great enthusiasm.
