Teshuva
This week's parsha is כי תשה which literally means and "you should uplift."
our sages explain that the name of the parsha encapsulates the very essence of the parsha. Therefore we may ask, How does this concept fit in this week's parsha?
A seemingly devastating blow

(19) And it came to pass, as soon as he came close unto the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing; and Moshe’s anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mount.

By the time you are 30 you begin to learn from your mistakes
By the time you are 60 you begin to learn from other's mistakes
By the time you are 100 you will realize that there were never any mistakes...
so looking backwords it was... perfection attained

(10) And there has not arisen a prophet since in Israel like unto Moshe, whom the Hashem knew face to face; (11) in all the signs and the wonders, which the Hashem sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land; (12) and in all the mighty hand, and in all the great awe, which Moses performed before the eyes of all Israel.

before the eyes of all Israel: [This expression alludes to the incident where] his inspired him up to shatter the tablets before their eyes, as it is said, “and I shattered them before your eyes” (Deut. 9:17). And [regarding Moshe's shattering the Tablets, the Holy One Blessed is He gave His approval, as Scripture states, “[the first Tablets] which you shattered” (Exod. 34:1); [God said to Moses:] “Well done for shattering them!” - [Shab. 87a]

Why did Moshe break the Luchot?
A famous parable of a son who rebelled against his father. Out of his shear love for the son and for their relationship, the father told the son to leave his house, and that he's no longer his father. Although on the surface this would seem very negative, in his hearts of hearts the father wants to arouse his son's inner heart(inner love) to waken the son's desire to be his father's son
Story of the yellow train station
Why does Hashem allow mistakes?
R. Yehoshua ben Levi said Israel made the (golden) calf only to provide an opening for those who seek to return (ba'alei t'shuvah) as it is written: 'Would that it were possible that these feelings would stay with them and they would revere me forever...'
The real virtue is....

The place which the שבעלי תשובה occupy, the perfectly righteous are unable to occupy...

Teshuvah is our capacity to reclaim the deficiencies of the past as fuel and momentum for the attainment of new, unprecedented heights. Teshuvah teaches us that every failing, every decline, can be exploited and redirected as a positive force
What is true perfection?

Just as as one says a bracha for the good he says "...Who is good and dispenses good," he is to make the same bracha for the bad For, our Mishnah teaches : For good tidings he says "Who is good and dispenses good" and For bad tidings he says "Blessed be the true Judge"!

Rav Soloveitchik: The Tapestry
A King once ordered that the most beautiful tapestry in the world should be woven for his palace. After many years, the King's advisors had finally notified him that the tapestry has been completed. The King and his company traveled for days to the tapestry master's workshop, and when he got there, he couldn't believe his eyes. The massive tapestry was hanging from the ceiling, however he couldnt make out a pattern at all. The threads were straying from all over, and the colors were all knotted together. Appalled, the King ordered that the tapestry master should be sentenced to death! The King's guards grabbed the tapestry master, and he yelled out, "You've got it all wrong! This is just the back of the tapestry!" When the tapestry was turned around, the King was in awe. His eyes were laying on the most magnificent tapestry he had ever seen in his life.
Midrash Rabba Ex. 46:1 G-d said to Moshe: Do not be distressed over the first tablets which contained only the Ten Commandments. In the second tablets, I am giving you also Halacha, Midrash and Aggada....Had Israel not .sinned with the golden calf, they would have received only the five books of Moses and the book of Joshua “.Why? Because, as the verse says, “Much wisdom comes with much grief."

(2) My G-d, my G-d, why have you forsaken me?

Don't read למה – why? – rather read ל–מה – for what?
