The Psalms of Hallel (113-118)

(1) Halleluyah!

Praise, servants of Hashem,

praise the name of Hashem!

(2) May Hashem's name be blessed

from now until eternity!

(3) From the place the sun rises to where it sets

Hashem's name is praised.

(4) High about all the nations is Hashem;

His glory is beyond the heavens.

(5) Who is like Hashem our God

who sits high above,

(6) But who descends to see

the heavens and the earth,

(7) Who raises the poor from dust,

lifts the needy from ash heaps,

(8) To seat them with nobles,

with the nobles of His people.

(9) Who makes the barren wife

a happy mother of children --

Halleluyah!

(1) When Israel went out of Egypt,

the house of Jacob from among a foreign people,

(2) Judah became His sanctuary,

Israel His dominion.

(3) The sea saw it and fled,

the Jordan retreated.
(4) The mountains danced like rams,

the hills like lambs of the flock.

(5) What’s wrong, sea, that you flee?

Jordan, that you retreat?
(6) Mountains, that you dance like rams?

Hills, like lambs of the flock?

(7) Whirl, earth, before the Lord,

Before the God of Jacob,
(8) Who turns rock into a pool of water,

Flint into a fountain of water.

(1) Not to us, Hashem, not to us

but to Your name give glory

for your love and truth.

(2) Why should the nations say,

“Where is their god?”

(3) Our God is in heaven,

doing all that He desires.

(4) Their idols are silver and gold

the work of human hands.

(5) They have a mouth and cannot speak,

eyes and cannot see,

(6) Ears and cannot hear,

a nose and cannot smell,

(7) Hands and cannot feel,

legs and cannot walk;

they make no noise in their throats.

(8) Like them will be those who make them,

all who trust in them.

(9) Israel, trust in Hashem!

He is their help and their shield.

(10) House of Aaron, trust in Hashem!

He is their help and their shield.

(11) Those in awe of Hashem, trust in Hashem!

He is their help and their shield.

(12) Hashem who remembers us will bless --

Will bless the House of Israel,

will bless the House of Aaron.

(13) Will bless those in awe of Hashem

small together with great.

(14) Hashem will increase you,

you and your children.

(15) You are blessed to Hashem

Who makes heaven and earth.

(16) The heavens belong to Hashem

but the earth He gave to human beings.

(17) The dead cannot praise Yah

nor those who go down in silence.

(18) But we will bless Yah

from now until eternity --

Halleluyah!

(1) I love Hashem who hears

my voice and my plea.

(2) Who inclines His ear to me;

all my days I will call to Him.

(3) Cords of death surrounded me

and the narrowness of She-ol found me --

I found tragedy and grief.

(4) I called on God’s name:

“Please, Hashem, deliver my soul!”

(5) Hashem is gracious and just;

our God is compassionate.

(6) Hashem protects the simple;

I was brought low and He saved me.

(7) Return to your rest, my soul

for Hashem has dealt bountifully with you.

(8) For You rescued my soul from death, my eyes from tears,

my feet from giving out.

(9) I will walk before Hashem

in the lands of the living.

(10) I trusted, even when I said,

“I suffer greatly!”

(11) I said hastily,

“All people are false!”

(12) What can I repay Hashem,

who has given me all goodness?

(13) I will raise up the cup of salvation

and call out in Hashem's name”
(14) “I will fulfill my vows to Hashem

before His entire people.”

(15) Weighty in Hashem's eyes

is the death of His pious ones.
(16) Please, Hashem, for I am your servant,

your servant, born of your maidservant,

loosen my bonds!

(17) I will give you an offering of thanks

and call out in Hashem's name:

(18) “I will fulfill my vows to Hashem

before His entire people.”

(19) In the courts of the House of Hashem

in the midst of Jerusalem -- Halleluyah!

(1) Praise Hashem, all nations,

Extoll Him, all peoples!

(2) For His love for us is great

and the truth of Hashem is eternal,

Halleluyah!

(1) Thank Hashem, for He is good:

For His love is eternal.

(2) Say, O Israel:

For His love is eternal.

(3) Say, House of Aaron:

For His love is eternal.

(4) Say, those in awe of Hashem:

For His love is eternal.

(5) From the narrow place I called to Yah;

He answered me from the expanse of Yah.

(6) Hashem is with me, I will not fear,

what can a human do to me?

(7) Hashem is with those who help me,

and I will see those who hate me.

(8) It is better to trust in Hashem

than to trust in man.

(9) It is better to trust in Hashem

than to trust in the powerful.

(10) All nations surround me,

I will cut them down in Hashem's name.

(11) They swarm and surround me,

I will cut them down in Hashem's name.

(12) They swarm like bees,

but burn out like brushfire,

I will cut them down in Hashem's name.

(13) You pushed me hard to make me fall,

but Hashem helped me.

(14) Yah is my strength and song,

and will be my salvation.

(15) The sound of joy and salvation is in the tents of the just:

“Hashem's right hand gives valor.

(16) Hashem's right hand is exalted,

Hashem's right hand gives valor.”

(17) I will not die, but live,

and declare Yah’s deeds.

(18) He let me suffer greatly,

but did not give me over to death.

(19) Open, gates of justice,

I will enter them and thank Hashem.

(20) This is the gate of Hashem;

the just will enter.

(21) I give thanks to You, for You answered me,

and became my salvation.

(22) The stone rejected by the builders

has become the cornerstone.

(23) This is from Hashem,

it is wondrous in our eyes.

(24) This is the day Hashem made,

we will rejoice and be glad in it.

(25) Please, Hashem, save us!

Please, Hashem, prosper us!

(26) Blessed is the one who comes in the name of Hashem —

we bless you from the House of Hashem.

(27) Hashem is God and shines on us;

bind the holiday offering with ropes,

up to the horns of the altar.

(28) You are my God and I thank You;

my God, and I exalt You.

(29) Thank Hashem, for He is good:

For His love is eternal.
