The day of rest should not be forgotten,
its memory like a fragrant odor
On it the dove found rest,
there shall rest exhausted ones.
On it the dove found rest, there shall rest exhausted ones
This day is honored by the faithful ones
who are scrupulous and safeguard it -- parents and children.
Engraved in the two stone tablets
given by the Abundantly Potent and Vigorously Strong
On it the dove found rest, there shall rest exhausted ones
Then they all joined together in a covenant:
"We will do and we will hear," they said as one.
Then they opened their mouths and called out, "Hashem is one"!
Blessed is the One who gives strength to the exhausted.
On it the dove found rest, there shall rest exhausted ones
He spoke amid His holiness
at the mountain of teaching
"The Seventh day: remember and safeguard"
And all His precepts should equally be studied.
Strengthen loins and be vigorously strong!
On it the dove found rest, there shall rest exhausted ones
The nation which wandered like bewildered sheep:
may He remember for them His covenant and oath
Lest evil happenings pass among them:
As He swore at the Waters of Noah.
On it the dove found rest, there shall rest exhausted ones

Its entrails and legs shall be washed with water, and the priest shall turn the whole into smoke on the altar as a burnt offering, an offering by fire of pleasing odor to Hashem.
But the dove could not find a resting place for its foot, and returned to him to the ark, for there was water over all the earth. So putting out his hand, he took it into the ark with him.
Ah, you are fair, my darling, Ah, you are fair. Your eyes are like doves behind your veil. Your hair is like a flock of goats Streaming down Mount Gilead.
There the wicked cease from troubling; There rest those whose strength is spent.
When He finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses the two tablets of the Pact, stone tablets inscribed with the finger of God.
Lift high your eyes and see: Who created these? He who sends out their host by count, Who calls them each by name: Because of His great might and vast power, Not one fails to appear.
Then he took the record of the covenant and read it aloud to the people. And they said, “All that Hashem has spoken we will faithfully do!”
Hear, O Israel! Hashem is our God, Hashem is one.
He gives strength to the weary, Fresh vigor to the spent.

Observe the sabbath day and keep it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you.

§ It was taught in the mishna: And there were two trumpets, one on each of the two sides of the person sounding the shofar. The Gemara asks: But is it really possible to properly discern two different sounds, at the same time? Isn’t it taught in a baraita: “Remember the Shabbat day” (Exodus 20:8) and “Keep the Shabbat day” (Deuteronomy 5:12), were spoken in a single utterance, something that the human mouth cannot speak and the human ear cannot hear? The Gemara answers: For this reason they would sound a long blast with the shofar, to make it possible to hear the sound of the shofar on its own.

A shatterer has come up against you. Man the guard posts, Watch the road; Steady your loins, Brace all your strength!
