(טז) וַיְצַו֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים עַל־הָֽאָדָ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר מִכֹּ֥ל עֵֽץ־הַגָּ֖ן אָכֹ֥ל תֹּאכֵֽל׃ (יז) וּמֵעֵ֗ץ הַדַּ֙עַת֙ ט֣וֹב וָרָ֔ע לֹ֥א תֹאכַ֖ל מִמֶּ֑נּוּ כִּ֗י בְּי֛וֹם אֲכָלְךָ֥ מִמֶּ֖נּוּ מ֥וֹת תָּמֽוּת׃

Genesis 2:16-17

(16) And the LORD God commanded the man, saying: ‘Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; (17) but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.’

Il Signore Dio diede all'uomo questo ordine: "Mangia pure di qualsiasi albero del giardino, ma non mangiare dell'albero della conoscenza del bene e del male, poiché nel giorno in cui tu ne mangiassi, moriresti".

Berakhot 40a:14

The tree from which Adam ate was — so says R. Meir — the vine, because thou hast nothing which brings lamentation upon man as does wine; as it is said, "And he (Noah) drank of the wine, and was drunken" (Gen. ix. 21). R. Nehemiah says: It was the fig-tree, for by the very thing that they were disgraced were they restored ; as it is said, "And they sewed fig-leaves together" (ibid. iii. 7). R. Judah said : It was wheat, because a child does not know to call "Father, mother" before it has tasted wheat.

L'albero da cui mangiò Adamo era - secondo Rabbi Meir - una vite, poiché non esiste nulla che porti disgrazia all'uomo quanto fa il vino; come è detto (Genesi 9:21): "Ed egli (Noè) bevve del vino e si ubriacò..". Rabbi Nehemia dice: era un albero di fico, poiché dalla stessa cosa che causò loro vergogna furono riabilitati; come è scritto (Genesi 3:7): "Misero insieme delle foglie di fico..". Rabbi Jehuda dice: era grano, poiché un bambino non è in grado di chiamare "mamma" e "papà" fino a che non ha assaggiato il grano.

בראשית רבה ט״ו:ז׳

רבי אבא דעכו אמר: אתרוג היה, הדא הוא דכתיב (בראשית ג): ותרא האשה כי טוב העץ וגו'. אמרת צא וראה, איזהו אילן שעצו נאכל כפריו? ואין את מוצא, אלא אתרוג.

Bereshit Rabbah 15:7

It was an etrog, as it is written (Genesis 3:6): "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food..." Go out and see, what is the tree whose wood (trunk, bark) looks as edible as the fruit? You won't find any but the etrog.

Era un cedro, perché è scritto (Genesi 3:6): " E la donna vide che l'albero era buono da mangiare..". Esci e vedi: qual è l'albero il cui tronco sembra commestibile quanto il frutto? Non troverai altro che il cedro (etrog).
