(א) לֹא־יִקַּ֥ח אִ֖ישׁ אֶת־אֵ֣שֶׁת אָבִ֑יו וְלֹ֥א יְגַלֶּ֖ה כְּנַ֥ף אָבִֽיו׃ (ס)
(1) No man shall marry his father’s wife, nor uncover his father’s garment.
הטקסט לא אומר "לשעבר" זה פירוש? איך הנישואין לאשת האבות קשורים להסרת בגד אבות?
So, how does the marriage to the father's wife relate to the removal of a father's garment? And why the double negative mitzvah?
(ב) לֹֽא־יָבֹ֧א פְצֽוּעַ־דַּכָּ֛א וּכְר֥וּת שָׁפְכָ֖ה בִּקְהַ֥ל יְהוָֽה׃ (ס)
(2) No one whose testes are crushed or whose member is cut off shall be admitted into the congregation of the LORD.

Canaan is never permitted to the congregation of Israel
(כא) וַיֵּ֥שְׁתְּ מִן־הַיַּ֖יִן וַיִּשְׁכָּ֑ר וַיִּתְגַּ֖ל בְּת֥וֹךְ אָהֳלֹֽה׃
(21) He drank of the wine and became drunk, and he uncovered himself within his tent.
(כב) וַיַּ֗רְא חָ֚ם אֲבִ֣י כְנַ֔עַן אֵ֖ת עֶרְוַ֣ת אָבִ֑יו וַיַּגֵּ֥ד לִשְׁנֵֽי־אֶחָ֖יו בַּחֽוּץ׃

(כג) וַיִּקַּח֩ שֵׁ֨ם וָיֶ֜פֶת אֶת־הַשִּׂמְלָ֗ה וַיָּשִׂ֙ימוּ֙ עַל־שְׁכֶ֣ם שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ אֲחֹ֣רַנִּ֔ית וַיְכַסּ֕וּ אֵ֖ת עֶרְוַ֣ת אֲבִיהֶ֑ם וּפְנֵיהֶם֙ אֲחֹ֣רַנִּ֔ית וְעֶרְוַ֥ת אֲבִיהֶ֖ם לֹ֥א רָאֽוּ׃
(23) But Shem and Japheth took a cloth, placed it against both their backs and, walking backward, they covered their father’s nakedness; their faces were turned the other way, so that they did not see their father’s nakedness.
(24) When Noah woke up from his wine and learned what his youngest son had done to him,
(כה) וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אָר֣וּר כְּנָ֑עַן עֶ֥בֶד עֲבָדִ֖ים יִֽהְיֶ֥ה לְאֶחָֽיו׃
(25) he said, “Cursed be Canaan; The lowest of slaves Shall he be to his brothers.”

What did Canaan do to deserve slavery?
(כז) יַ֤פְתְּ אֱלֹהִים֙ לְיֶ֔פֶת וְיִשְׁכֹּ֖ן בְּאָֽהֳלֵי־שֵׁ֑ם וִיהִ֥י כְנַ֖עַן עֶ֥בֶד לָֽמוֹ׃
נח התעורר, קילל את כנען, בירך את שם ישירות, בירך על תנאי את ג'פת והתעלם מהאם. כעת נוכל ללמוד מה אומרים לנו פסוקי דברים 23: 1-2 (מתוקף ההפטרה המשותפת המחברת את נוח). שהאם הפר את שני החוקים - הוא שכב איתו הוא אשת אבות, חשף את ערוות אבותיו וסרס את אביו שהביאו אותו - לא קדוש ראה את נוף הראב (הרב אבא בר איבו)
Sharing this Haftarah tells us why Noah woke and cursed Canaan (not Ham) then blessed Shem, conditionally blessed Japeth and worst of all ignored Ham. Now we learn what the verses of Deuteronomy discretely 23:1-2 tell us. That Ham breached both laws in 23:1 and 2 - when he slept with his fathers wife, uncovered his fathers nakedness and castrated him to render him unfit to enter the congregation of the Lord, thus making way for Abram - Deuteronomy 23:2 - see the view of Rav in the link below - Rav Abba bar Aybo
