לֹֽא־יִתְיַצְּב֣וּ הֽ֭וֹלְלִים לְנֶ֣גֶד עֵינֶ֑יךָ שָׂ֝נֵ֗אתָ כָּל־פֹּ֥עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃
בְּכָל־עֵ֕ת יִהְי֥וּ בְגָדֶ֖יךָ לְבָנִ֑ים וְשֶׁ֖מֶן עַל־רֹאשְׁךָ֥ אַל־יֶחְסָֽר׃
בְּכָל עֵת יִהְיוּ בְגָדֶיךָ לְבָנִים. הַתְקֵן עַצְמְךָ בְכָל שָׁעָה בְמַעֲשֶׂה טוֹב, שֶׁאִם תָּמוּת הַיּוֹם, תִּכָּנֵס בְּשָׁלוֹם.
At all times, let your garments be white. Prepare yourself at all times with good deeds, so that if you die today, you will enter [the Hereafter] in peace.
הָאוֹמֵר, אֶחֱטָא וְאָשׁוּב, אֶחֱטָא וְאָשׁוּב, אֵין מַסְפִּיקִין בְּיָדוֹ לַעֲשׂוֹת תְּשׁוּבָה.
One who says: I shall sin and repent, sin and repent, they do not afford him the opportunity to repent.
וְשַׁבְתָּ֞ עַד־יקוק אֱלֹקֶ֙יךָ֙...
and you return to the LORD your God...
תִּקְע֣וּ בַחֹ֣דֶשׁ שׁוֹפָ֑ר בַּ֝כֵּ֗סֶה לְי֣וֹם חַגֵּֽנוּ׃
רַבִּי בֶּרֶכְיָה פָּתַח (תהלים פא, ד): תִּקְעוּ בַּחֹדֶשׁ שׁוֹפָר... בְּחֹדֶשׁ זֶה תְּחַדְּשׁוּ מַעֲשֵׂיכֶם בַּשּׁוֹפָר, בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַזֶּה שַׁפְּרוּ מַעֲשֵׂיכֶם...
6 Rabbi Berakhiah opened [his discourse]: "Blow the horn (shofar)... On this month, rejuvenate your deeds with the shofar; on this month, improve (shapru) your deeds...
