You may work with a partner.

1. Identify each known clause (Sof-Pasuk, Etnachta, Katon, T'vir).

2. Highlight each clause accordingly:

Sof-Pasuk (Pink)

Etnachta (Yellow)

Katon (Green)

T'vir (Blue)

3. Practice chanting each clause using trope symbols. Keep in mind the mafsikim (separators) and the m'chabrim (connectors) for proper phrasing. If it helps, you can mark a slash after each separator.

4. Speak through the Hebrew of each clause, noting the syllabic stress based on the position of the trope symbol.

5. Combine the Hebrew and the trope symbol melody to chant - practice clause by clause.

6. As you are chanting with text, be sure to practice the correct phrasing. Pause whenever their is a mafsik (separator) and keep chanting when there is a m'chaber (connector).

(30) And to you, O dishonored wicked prince of Israel, whose day has come—the time set for your punishment— (31) thus said the Lord GOD: Remove the turban and lift off the crown! This shall not remain as it is; exalt the low and abase the high. (32) Ruin, an utter ruin I will make it. It shall be no more until he comes to whom it rightfully belongs; and I will give it to him.
