G-d's Image -

"There are many with me." (Psalms 55:19) And who are they? they are the angels who watch over people. Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi said: An entourage of angels always walks in front of people, with messengers calling out. And what do they say? "Make way for the image of the Holy One, blessed be He.

Kedushat Levi, D'roosh L'Purim

It is known from the words of the Ba'al Shem Tov in his interpretation of the verse "god is your shade/shadow...," (Psalm 121:5) that the shadow does everything that the person does, so too - so to speak - regarding God, may He be blessed; every action that a man does below awakens an action above, and the Holy Blessed One does according to his example. When a man does tzedakah below, he causes God, to influence with tzedakah and kindness also above. And with this you will understand why the high priest, on Yom Kippur, would wear white clothes (Mishnah Yoma 3:6), because the appearance is white -- it has no color at all, only afterwards it can receive all of the shades. And behold God, so to speak - has no color at all, because He has neither form nor likeness, only we give Him a color...And regarding this are the words of our sages interpreted: "In the future the Holy Blessing One will make a circle of dancing for the righteous, and each one will show with their finger: 'this is our God!" (Ta'anit 31a, Isaiah 25:9). That 'finger (etzbah) -- is from the language of color (tzevah), and the meaning is that: every tzaddik will perceive in God, may He be blessed, the same color that they acted with.

This (mitzvah not to curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind) is also part of the concept of maintaining harmony and the dignity of human beings one to another...and it is written in the beraita... "This is the book of the generations of mankind" (Bereishit 5:1) - Ben Azai states: This a major principle of the Torah" and the Raavad explains that he is referring to the end of the verse"[mankind] who was made in the image of God" - whom are you degrading? [when you shame another human being], whom are you cursing? [when you curse another human being]? The image of the Holy One Blessed be He" And someone who does not think this way is labeled as if the divine image is not resting upon him!"
