Exodus 2:22
She (Zipporah) bore a son whom he (Moses) named Gershom, for he said, "I have been a stranger in a foreign land." [JPS translation]

Suggested Discussion Questions:

1. Why did Moses name his son after his experience as a stranger? Why was it such a defining experience for him?

2. What role does history play in this text and for us in defining, and living by, our values?
