Babylonian Talmud, Yevamot 63a
תלמוד בבלי יבמות סג.
מאי דכתיב (בראשית ב) "זאת הפעם עצם מעצמי ובשר מבשרי?" מלמד שבא אדם על כל בהמה וחיה ולא נתקררה דעתו עד שבא על חוה.
What does the verse “This time, she is it! Bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh!” mean? It comes to teach us that the adam had intercourse will all the animals and beasts and was not satisfied (literally “his mind was not cooled”) till he had intercourse with Eve. [Translation by Rabbi Steve Greenberg]

Suggested Discussion Questions:

1. The midrash reads the phrase "this time" to infer other sexual encounters that were failed. Why do you think the rabbis interpreted "this time" in this particular way?

2. What does this text suggest about the uniqueness of the human sexual experience?
