Genesis 23:4
I am a stranger and a resident among you; sell me a burial site among you, that I may remove my dead for burial. [AJWS translation]

Suggested Discussion Questions:

1. In this text, Abraham is asking to bury his wife Sarah in a foreign land. If you were the leader of that land, what factors would you consider when decided whether or not to grant permission? What factors are taken into account today for similar requests by travelers and migrants?

2. What does it mean that Abraham was a stranger and a resident of the land? Are there people today who fall under that category?
