ויקבר אותו -
הקב"ה בכבודו.
רבי ישמעאל אומר: הוא קבר את עצמו, וזהו אחד משלשה אתין שהיה רבי ישמעאל דורש כן.
כיוצא בו (במדבר ו, יג) ביום מלאת ימי נזרו יביא אותו, הוא מביא את עצמו.
כיוצא בו (ויקרא כב, טז) והשיאו אותם עון אשמה, וכי אחרים משיאים אותם, אלא הם משיאים את עצמם:
Rashi
And he buried him -
The Holy One, Blessed be He, in his honour.
R. Ishmael says: 'He buried himself.'
This is one of three 'et's that R. Ishmael interprets thusly.
As he derives it here (Numbers 6:13): 'And on the day he has completed his days as a Nazarite, he shall bring him out.' (According to R. Ishmael:) 'He shall bring himself out.'
As he derives it here (Lev. 22:16): 'And they will make them bear the iniquity of trespass.'
Do others cause them [to bear the iniquity of trespass]? Rather, they cause themselves to bear [it].

ויקבר אותו -
הוא קבר עצמו, שנכנס במערה בגיא.
וכן: וירעו הרועים אותם.
ויראו שוטרי בני ישראל אותם.
ודע כי הר העברים שהוא הר נבו שהוא צלם כוכב הוא בעצמו, הגיא שהוא ראש הפסגה, שהוא מול בית פעור, והעד שאמר הכתוב: כי נסע ישראל מבמות אל הגיא אשר בשדה מואב ראש הפסגה.
וכתיב: ויעל משה מערבות מואב אל הר נבו ראש הפסגה ושם מת ושם קבורתו.
וכתיב: ונשב בגיא מול בית פעור.
והנה אחר שישבו ישראל בגיא, אמר הכתוב: ויסעו בני ישראל ויחנו בערבות מואב.
וכתוב אחר: ויחנו בהרי העברים לפני נבו ויסעו מהרי העברים ויחנו בערבות מואב.
והנה דבר ברור כי במקום שמת משה שם קבורתו.
Ibn Ezra
And he buried him -
He buried himself, that he entered a cave in the valley.
And thus: 'The shepherds tended themselves.' (Ezekiel 34:8)
'And the foremen of the children of Israel found themselves [in trouble].' (Exodus 5:19)
And know that Mount Abarim, this is Mount Nebo, which is itself Mercury - the valley is at the peak of Pisgah, which is across from Beth Peor. And witness that the verse said: that Israel travelled 'from Bamoth to the valley which is in the fields of Moab, at the peak of Pisgah.'
And it is written (above): 'And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto Mount Nebo, the peak of Pisgah.' And there he died, and there he was buried.
And it says: 'And we stayed in the valley near Beth Peor.' (Deut. 3:29) And behold, elsewhere Israel dwelled in the valley; the verse said: 'The Children of Israel camped in the plains of Moab.' (Numbers 22:1)
And it is written afterwards: 'And they camped in the mountains of Abarim, before Nebo, and they travelled from the mountains of Abarim, and they camped in the plains of Moab.' (Numbers 33:47-48)
And behold, the matter is clear that the place where Moshe died is the place that he was buried.

וַיִּקְבּר אתו. אִם הוּא קָבַר אֶת עַצְמו כְּדִבְרֵי קְצָת זַ"ל, עָשְׂתָה זאת נַפְשׁו הַנִּבְדֶּלֶת, כִּי הוּא מֵת בָּהָר "ראשׁ הַפִּסְגָּה" (לעיל פסוק א), שֶׁמִּשָּׁם רָאָה אֶת הָאָרֶץ (פסוקים א-ג), כְּאָמְרו "וַיָּמָת שָׁם משֶׁה" (שם פסוק ה), וְהַקְּבוּרָה הָיְתָה בַּגַּי (פסוק ו).
Sforno
And he buried him - if he buried himself, as is the opinion of some of the sages, his soul was separated and did this, as he died on the mountain 'at the peak of Pisgah' (above, verse 1), that from there he saw the land (verses 1-3), as it said, 'and Moshe died there', and he was buried in the valley (verse 6).
