A collection of legends about the Baal Shem Tov, founder of Chasidism, written by Dov ben Samuel Baer, a son-in-law of the Besht's secretary. The book exists in two different versions: the Kopys edition (1815), and the Berdychiv edition of the same year. The latter omits many legends which are found in the former, especially those that are of a particularly extraordinary nature. Later editions, of which there are more than ten, follow either of these editions, and some are combinations of the two.
