וּבִלַּע֙ בָּהָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה פְּנֵֽי־הַלּ֥וֹט ׀ הַלּ֖וֹט עַל־כׇּל־הָעַמִּ֑ים וְהַמַּסֵּכָ֥ה הַנְּסוּכָ֖ה עַל־כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ And He will destroy on this mounteI.e., the Holy Land, as in 11.9; 14.25; 57.13. the shroud
That is drawn over the faces of all the peoples
And the covering that is spread
Over all the nations:
בִּלַּ֤ע הַמָּ֙וֶת֙ לָנֶ֔צַח וּמָחָ֨ה אֲדֹנָ֧י יֱהֹוִ֛ה דִּמְעָ֖ה מֵעַ֣ל כׇּל־פָּנִ֑ים וְחֶרְפַּ֣ת עַמּ֗וֹ יָסִיר֙ מֵעַ֣ל כׇּל־הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃ {פ}
He will destroy deathfPerhaps an allusion to the mass killings committed by the Assyrians; cf. 10.7; 14.20. forever.
My Lord GOD will wipe the tears away
From all faces
And will put an end to the reproach of gEmendation yields “peoples.”His people-g
Over all the earth—
For it is the LORD who has spoken.
וְאָמַר֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא הִנֵּ֨ה אֱלֹהֵ֥ינוּ זֶ֛ה קִוִּ֥ינוּ ל֖וֹ וְיוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נוּ זֶ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ קִוִּ֣ינוּ ל֔וֹ נָגִ֥ילָה וְנִשְׂמְחָ֖ה בִּישׁוּעָתֽוֹ׃ In that day they shall say:
This is our God;
We trusted in Him, and He delivered us.
This is the LORD, in whom we trusted;
Let us rejoice and exult in His deliverance!
כִּי־תָנ֥וּחַ יַד־יְהֹוָ֖ה בָּהָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה וְנָ֤דוֹשׁ מוֹאָב֙ תַּחְתָּ֔יו כְּהִדּ֥וּשׁ מַתְבֵּ֖ן (במי) [בְּמ֥וֹ] מַדְמֵנָֽה׃ For the hand of the LORD shall descend
Upon this mount,eI.e., the Holy Land, as in 11.9; 14.25; 57.13.
And MoabhEmendation yields “Assyria”; cf. 14.25. shall be trampled under Him

וּפֵרַ֤שׂ יָדָיו֙ בְּקִרְבּ֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר יְפָרֵ֥שׂ הַשֹּׂחֶ֖ה לִשְׂח֑וֹת וְהִשְׁפִּיל֙ גַּאֲוָת֔וֹ עִ֖ם אׇרְבּ֥וֹת יָדָֽיו׃ Then He will spread out His hands in their homeland,jLit. “midst.”
As a swimmer spreads his hands out to swim,
And He will humble their pride
Along with kMeaning of Heb. uncertain. Emendation yields “their citadels”; cf. the next verse.the emblems of their power.-k
וּמִבְצַ֞ר מִשְׂגַּ֣ב חוֹמֹתֶ֗יךָ הֵשַׁ֥ח הִשְׁפִּ֛יל הִגִּ֥יעַ לָאָ֖רֶץ עַד־עָפָֽר׃ {ס} Yea, the secure fortification of theirlHeb. “your.” walls
He will lay low and humble,
Will raze to the ground, to the very dust.
