ואך. חסר נו"ן. כמו ואט אליו אוכיל. שניהם שוים ושרשם. נטה נכה: AND SMITTEN. Va-akh (and smitten) is missing a nun. It is like the word ve-at (though I was offering) in Though I was offering them food (Hos. 11:4). They are both the same. Their roots are nun, tet, heh and nun, kaf, heh.
וטעם בדבר. הידוע שבו הרגתי המקנה שלכם הייתי הורג כלכם עמהם: [PESTILENCE.] Scripture reads, ba-dever (with pestilence)57Rather than be-dever. Ba-dever is short for be-ha-dever (with the pestilence) and according to I.E. should be so translated, hence his comment. because it refers to the well-known pestilence. It means: I would have killed all of you along with your cattle with the pestilence with which I smote them.
