ויאמר פרקו. על משקל ברכו מהבנין הכבד הדגוש. מנהג מצרים היה לשום נזמים באזניהם. וככה כתוב במדינים כי ישמעאלים הם: AND AARON SAID UNTO THEM: BREAK OFF THE GOLDEN RINGS. Pareku (break off) is vocalized like barekhu (bless). It is a pi’el. It was the custom of the Egyptians to place rings in their ears.1The Israelites imitated the Egyptian custom. It is similarly written with regard to the Midianites, because they were Ishmaelites (Jud. 8:24).2Jud. 8:24 reads, For they (the Midianites, so I.E) had golden earrings because they were Ishmaelites. I.E. believes that the Ishmaelites followed the same practices as the Egyptians because the Ishmaelites are descended from Hagar the Egyptian.
