AND THOU SHALT PUT THEM UPON AARON THY BROTHER. The word otam (them) takes in the chequered tunic, the mitre, and the girdle which are Aaron’s garments. It also takes in the unchequered tunics, the girdles, and the head-tires which are the garments of Aaron’s sons.177Our verse reads, And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and upon his sons with him. I.E. explains that the verse is to be read as if written: And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and thou shalt put them upon his sons with him. The first “them” refers to Aaron’s garments and the second “them” to his sons’ garments.
