Parashat Bereishit
Bereishit (‘In the Beginning”), the first parashah in the annual Torah reading cycle, begins with God’s creation of the world. The first people, Adam and Eve, eat from the Tree of Knowledge and are banished from the Garden of Eden. Their elder son, Cain, kills their younger son, Abel, and Cain is destined to a life of wandering.פרשת בראשית, הפרשה הראשונה בתורה, מתארת את ראשיתו של העולם. אלוהים בורא את העולם בשישה ימים ונח ביום השביעי. הוא מניח את האדם בגן עדן ומצווה עליו ליהנות מפירות הגן מלבד מפרי עץ הדעת. בעצת הנחש חוה ואדם אוכלים מעץ הדעת, ולכן מגורשים מגן עדן. בנם הבכור קין הורג את אחיו הצעיר הבל, וקין נידון להיות נע ונד בארץ.
