About Midrash Rabbah

Midrash Rabbah is made up of ten independent midrashic collections, one on each of the Five Books of Moses and the five megillot. While some of the texts in this collection are from the same time and place and share some characteristics, there is much variation in their style and modes of interpretation. The teachings in these collections range from the time of the Second Temple through the high medieval period. The earliest of these collections to be closed to further additions are Genesis and Leviticus Rabbah.
