In February, 2001 the Journal Nature published an image of the first complete human DNA sequence and a molecular biologist at NIH had the foresight to give me the journal to use the images in a collage. I This quote from "Shoftim": "ki ha'adam etz hasadeh" means "for man is like a tree in a field" and is a declaration that Hebrew soldiers must not destroy trees on conquered land. That inspired me to use the DNA in the form of a tree, with some human aspects.

(19) When in your war against a city you have to besiege it a long time in order to capture it, you must not destroy its trees, wielding the ax against them. You may eat of them, but you must not cut them down. Are trees of the field human to withdraw before you into the besieged city?
