Who straightens the bent: morning blessings for Jewish yoga
[Blessed art thou, God of heavens and earth, who created the great lights, the sun to rule by day and the moon by night] (upon sunrise, before performing prostration exercises or surya namaskar (sun salutations), for we salute only the Creator and Lord of the sun, moon, and stars, and no other subsidiary power)
[..the heavens recount your glory, and the firmament tells of the works of your hand (ps 19)]
.. who straightens the bent (after finding asana - steadiness and comfort in seated or standing meditation posture)
[May they find favor before thee, the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. (ps 19)]
(Recite the following blessings while preparing to leave the house for synagogue to pray with the community. If one intends to complete shacharit prayers at home, move into the verses of praise now, omitting these until leaving for work afterward.)
