(35) Unto thee it was shown, that thou mightiest know that Yahweh, He is God; there is none else beside Him.
Monotheism - Mono = one, Polytheism - belief in more than one God
Have Jews always been monotheists? Are we still monotheists if we recognize other gods, or have reverence/appreciation for nature?
So there were 'household idols', idols that protect the family.
Encyclopedia Judaica:
The teraphim are both condoned and condemned in biblical writing. From the story of Rachel's flight and her appropriation of her father's teraphim, it seems to have been the accepted custom among the people in Mesopotamia to have objects of worship in their house and to take them along when going abroad (see Greenberg, in bibl.). Furthermore, in the story of Michal, teraphim seem to be a usual piece of household furniture and were most probably tolerated by the Israelite religion of that time.

(11) Who is like You, O LORD, among the celestials; Who is like You, majestic in holiness, Awesome in splendor, working wonders!
Does this mean there are other gods? EJ: 'unreality and futility of pagan deities'
(15) And Hezekiah prayed before the Yahweh, and said: ‘O Yahweh, the God of Israel, that sittest upon the cherubim, Thou art the God, even Thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; Thou hast made heaven and earth.
(16) ’O Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, that sittest upon the cherubim, Thou art the God, even Thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; Thou hast made heaven and earth.
(20) Now therefore, O Yahweh our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that Thou art Yahweh, even Thou only.’

God does not change, or evolve, or disappear.
(6) Thou art Yahweh, even Thou alone; Thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all things that are thereon, the seas and all that is in them, and Thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth Thee.
(5) For all the gods of the peoples are things of nought; But Yahweh made the heavens.
(7) Nevertheless ye shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes.'
(9) And Yahweh shall be King over all the earth; In that day shall Yahweh be One, and His name one.
(10) Ye are My witnesses, saith Yahweh, And My servant whom I have chosen; That ye may know and believe Me, and understand That I am He; Before Me there was no God formed, Neither shall any be after Me. (11) I, even I, am Yahweh; And beside Me there is no saviour.
(6) Thus saith Yahweh, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer Yahweh of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last, And beside Me there is no God.
In other words, it's ok for OTHER people to worship the sun, the moon, the creations themselves - but Israel must only worship the one, invisible, indivisible God of the universe.
God creates both good and evil, i.e. there's not another divine source -- like a 'God of Evil', or a separate source of evil (like Satan), Satan in the Jewish Bible is just another of God's angels.(The 'Accuser', like a prosecuting attorney)
