Beer in the Bible

All appearances of the word שכר in the Bible:

Drink neither wine nor beer, you or your sons, when you enter the Tent of Meeting, that you may not die. This is a law for all time throughout the ages,

they shall abstain from wine and beer; they shall not drink vinegar of wine nor beer, neither shall they drink anything in which grapes have been steeped, nor eat grapes fresh or dried.

The libation with it shall be a quarter of a hin for each lamb, to be poured in the sacred precinct as an offering of beer to The LORD.

and spend the money on anything you want—cattle, sheep, wine, or beer, or anything you may desire. And you shall feast there, in the presence of The LORD, your God, and rejoice with your household.

you had no bread to eat and neither wine nor beer to drink—that you might know that I, The LORD, am your God.

(4) Now be careful to drink neither wine nor beer, nor to eat anything unclean.

(ז) וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לִ֔י הִנָּ֥ךְ הָרָ֖ה וְיֹלַ֣דְתְּ בֵּ֑ן וְעַתָּ֞ה אַל־תִּשְׁתִּ֣י ׀ יַ֣יִן וְשֵׁכָ֗ר וְאַל־תֹּֽאכְלִי֙ כׇּל־טֻמְאָ֔ה כִּֽי־נְזִ֤יר אֱלֹהִים֙ יִֽהְיֶ֣ה הַנַּ֔עַר מִן־הַבֶּ֖טֶן עַד־י֥וֹם מוֹתֽוֹ׃ {פ}

(7) He said to me, ‘You are going to conceive and bear a son. Drink neither wine nor beer, and eat nothing unclean, for the boy is to be a nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death!’”

(יד) מִכֹּ֣ל אֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵא֩ מִגֶּ֨פֶן הַיַּ֜יִן לֹ֣א תֹאכַ֗ל וְיַ֤יִן וְשֵׁכָר֙ אַל־תֵּ֔שְׁתְּ וְכׇל־טֻמְאָ֖ה אַל־תֹּאכַ֑ל כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־צִוִּיתִ֖יהָ תִּשְׁמֹֽר׃ {ס}

(14) She must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, or drink wine or beer, or eat anything unclean. She must observe all that I commanded her.”

(15) And Hannah replied, “Oh no, my lord! I am a very unhappy woman. I have drunk neither wine nor beer, but I have been pouring out my heart to the LORD.

(11) Ah,
Those who chase beer
From early in the morning,
And till late in the evening
Are inflamed by wine!

(22) Ah,
Those who are so doughty—
As drinkers of wine,
And so valiant—
As mixers of beer!

(9) They drink their wine without song;
Beer tastes bitter to the drinker.

(7) But these are also muddled by wine
And dazed by liquor:
Priest and prophet
Are muddled by liquor;
They are confused by wine,
They are dazed by beer;
They are muddled in their visions,
They stumble in judgment.

(9) Act stupid and be stupefied!
Act blind and be blinded!
(They are drunk, but not from wine,
They stagger, but not from beer.)

(12) “Come, I’ll get some wine;
Let us swill beer.
And tomorrow will be just the same,
Or even much grander!”

(11) If a man were to go about uttering
Windy, baseless falsehoods:
“I’ll preach to you in favor of wine and beer”—
He would be a preacher [acceptable] to that people.

(13) Those who sit in the gate talk about me;
I am the taunt of beer-drinkers.

(1) Wine is a scoffer, beer a roisterer;
He who is muddled by them will not grow wise.

(4) Wine is not for kings, O Lemuel;
Not for kings to drink,
Nor any beer for princes,

(6) Give beer to the hapless
And wine to the embittered.
