Yom Kippur

(29) And it shall be a statute for ever for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no manner of work, the native, nor the stranger that dwell among you. (30) For on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you from all your sins - you shall be clean before Hashem.

(31) It is a sabbath of solemn rest unto you, and you shall afflict your souls; it is a statute forever.

(32) And the priest, who shall be anointed and who shall be consecrated to be priest in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, the holy garments. (33) And he shall make atonement for the most holy place, and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly. (34) And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make atonement for the children of Israel because of all their sins once in the year. And he did as the Hashem commanded Moses.

Avinu Malkeinu - last line

Talmud Yoma, 39a

"If a person chooses to defile himself a little, he ends up becoming very defiled. When he chooses bad down below, he is led in the direction of bad from above."

Talmud Yoma 39a

"'And you shall make yourself holy and you will become holy.' [We learn from this that] if a person sanctifies himself a little bit, he becomes very sanctified. When he chooses good down below, he is assisted and led in a good direction from above."

(17) And there shall be no man in the tent of meeting when he goes in to make atonement in the holy place, until he comes out, having made atonement for himself, for his household and for all the assembly of Israel.
