(1) In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a sacred occasion: you shall not work at your occupations. You shall observe it as a day when the horn is sounded.
ר' אבא בריה דרב פפי ור' יהושע דסכנין, בשם ר' לוי אמר: כל ימות השנה ישראל עוסקין במלאכתן ובר"ה נוטלין שופרותיהן ותוקעין לפני הקב"ה והוא עומד מכסא דין לכסא רחמים ומתמלא עליהם רחמים.

(יב) אַחַ֤ת ׀ דִּבֶּ֬ר אֱלֹהִ֗ים שְׁתַּֽיִם־ז֥וּ שָׁמָ֑עְתִּי כִּ֥י עֹ֝֗ז לֵאלֹהִֽים׃

(19) The LORD spoke those words to your whole congregation at the mountain, from the fire and the dense clouds, a great voice and it did not increase. He inscribed them on two tablets of stone, which He gave to me.
(יט) ולא יסף. מתרגמנן ולא פסק כי קולו חזק וקים לעולם
(19) "And it did not increase." We translate: "and it did not end", since His voice is strong and endures forever.
