  1. שמות ל׳:י״ב-י״ג
    (יב) כִּ֣י תִשָּׂ֞א אֶת־רֹ֥אשׁ בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֘ל לִפְקֻדֵיהֶם֒ וְנָ֨תְנ֜וּ אִ֣ישׁ כֹּ֧פֶר נַפְשׁ֛וֹ לַיהוָ֖ה בִּפְקֹ֣ד אֹתָ֑ם וְלֹא־יִהְיֶ֥ה בָהֶ֛ם נֶ֖גֶף בִּפְקֹ֥ד אֹתָֽם׃ (יג) זֶ֣ה ׀ יִתְּנ֗וּ כָּל־הָעֹבֵר֙ עַל־הַפְּקֻדִ֔ים מַחֲצִ֥ית הַשֶּׁ֖קֶל בְּשֶׁ֣קֶל הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ עֶשְׂרִ֤ים גֵּרָה֙ הַשֶּׁ֔קֶל מַחֲצִ֣ית הַשֶּׁ֔קֶל תְּרוּמָ֖ה לַֽיהוָֽה׃
    Exodus 30:12-13
    (12) When you take a census of the Israelite people according to their enrollment, each shall pay the LORD a ransom for himself on being enrolled, that no plague may come upon them through their being enrolled. (13) This is what everyone who is entered in the records shall pay: a half-shekel by the sanctuary weight—twenty gerahs to the shekel—a half-shekel as an offering to the LORD.

    ונתנו: אם תקראנו למפרע יהי' ג''כ ונתנו לו' לך כל מה שאדם נותן לצדקה יחזור אליו ולא יחסר לו בשביל זה כלום.

    Baal HaTurim on Exodus 30:12

    "VeNatnu": If you read it backwards it also says "VeNatnu" (they shall give). This is to say that anything one gives for charity will come back to her and you shall lack nothing as a result.

  3. משנה תורה, הלכות מתנות עניים י׳:ד׳

    (ד) כָּל הַנּוֹתֵן צְדָקָה לְעָנִי בְּסֵבֶר פָּנִים רָעוֹת וּפָנָיו כְּבוּשׁוֹת בַּקַּרְקַע אֲפִלּוּ נָתַן לוֹ אֶלֶף זְהוּבִים אִבֵּד זְכוּתוֹ וְהִפְסִידָהּ. אֶלָּא נוֹתֵן לוֹ בְּסֵבֶר פָּנִים יָפוֹת וּבְשִׂמְחָה וּמִתְאוֹנֵן עִמּוֹ עַל צָרָתוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (איוב ל-כה) "אִם לֹא בָכִיתִי לִקְשֵׁה יוֹם עָגְמָה נַפְשִׁי לָאֶבְיוֹן". וּמְדַבֵּר לוֹ דִּבְרֵי תַּחֲנוּנִים וְנִחוּמִים שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (איוב כט-יג) "וְלֵב אַלְמָנָה אַרְנִן":

    Mishneh Torah, Gifts to the Poor 10:4

    (4) One who gives charity to a poor person with bad grace, and his face in the ground (i.e. with a bad attitude) , even if he gave a thousand gold pieces he has destroyed his merit and lost it, rather [we must] give with a cheerful expression and gladly, and commiserate with him about his troubles as it says "If I have not wept for him that was in trouble, and if my soul grieved not for the needy" and speak gracious and comforting words to him as it says "and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy."

  4. דברים י״ד:כ״ב
    (כב) עַשֵּׂ֣ר תְּעַשֵּׂ֔ר אֵ֖ת כָּל־תְּבוּאַ֣ת זַרְעֶ֑ךָ הַיֹּצֵ֥א הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה שָׁנָ֥ה שָׁנָֽה׃
    Deuteronomy 14:22
    (22) You shall set aside every year a tenth part of all the yield of your sowing that is brought from the field.

  5. רמב"ם על אבות ג':ט"ו

    והכל לפי רוב המעשה: ...כשיתן האדם למי שראוי אלף זהובים בבת אחת לאיש אחד, ולאיש אחד לא יתן כלום לא יעלה בידו מדת הנדיבות בזה המעשה האחד הגדול, כמו שמגיע למי שהתנדב אלף זהובים באלף פעמים - ונתן כל זהוב מהם על צד הנדיבות, מפני שזה כפל מעשה הנדיבות אלף פעמים והגיע לו קנין חזק, וזה פעם אחת לבד התעוררה נפשו התעוררות גדולה לפועל טוב ואחרי כן פסקה ממנו.

    Rambam on Avot 3:15

    VeHaKol Lefi Rov HaMa'ase: ...When a person gives to an appropriate person one thousand gold pieces at once, he would not be considered at the level of generosity in this one large action as someone who gave one thousand gold coins (one at a time) one thousand times and through each coin was generous, because this multiplies the act of generosity one thousand times and [the trait of generosity] is strengthened in this person, while the other one only had his spirit raised to the awareness to do good once and then stopped.
