(מד) וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֶת־מֹעֲדֵ֖י ה' אֶל־בְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (פ)
(44) So Moses declared to the Israelites the set times of the Lord.

So Moses declared On festivals, this verse is recited aloud before the Amidah during the Maariv service, and before the blessing over wine for the Kiddush preceding lunch.
Megillah 31a:“And Moshe declared to the children of Israel the appointed seasons of the Lord” (Leviticus 23:44)—it is their mitzvah that each should be read in its appropriate time.
Megillah 32a:“And Moses told the children of Israel of the appointed seasons of the Lord” (Leviticus 23:44). It is part of their mitzvah that [the section relating to] each one of them should be read in its season.
(16) The Israelite people shall keep the sabbath, observing the sabbath throughout the ages, as a covenant for all time. (17) It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel for ever; for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He ceased from work and was refreshed.’
(8) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. (9) Six days shall you labour, and do all your work; (10) but the seventh day is a sabbath unto the LORD thy God, in it you shall not do any manner of work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your man-servant, nor your maid-servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates; (11) for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested on the seventh day; wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
(א) שלא לעשות מלאכה בשבת - שלא לעשות מלאכה ביום השבת אנחנו, ולא נניח לעשות לבנינו ועבדינו ובהמותינו, שנאמר (שמות כ י) לא תעשה כל מלאכה וגו'. ואין ספק כי אף על פי שהכתוב הוציא אסור המלאכה בנו ובבנים ובעבדים ובבהמות בלאו אחד, שאין הענין שוה, כי העושה מלאכה בגופו יתחיב מיתת בית דין אם הוא מזיד.
(1) Not to perform labor on Shabbat - that is, we ourselves should not perform labor on Shabbat, and also we should not allow our children, servants, and animals to do so, as the verse says (Exodus 20:10) "do not perform any labor etc.". Even though the verse issues a [single blanket] prohibition on us, our children, servants, and animals; there is no doubt that they are not all equal, as we see that one who deliberately performs labor with his own body can be liable for the death penalty in a court.
(לא) וַיַּ֤רְא אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֔ה וְהִנֵּה־ט֖וֹב מְאֹ֑ד וַֽיְהִי־עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי־בֹ֖קֶר י֥וֹם הַשִּׁשִּֽׁי׃ (פ) (א) וַיְכֻלּ֛וּ הַשָּׁמַ֥יִם וְהָאָ֖רֶץ וְכָל־צְבָאָֽם׃ (ב) וַיְכַ֤ל אֱלֹהִים֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י מְלַאכְתּ֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה וַיִּשְׁבֹּת֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י מִכָּל־מְלַאכְתּ֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָֽׂה׃ (ג) וַיְבָ֤רֶךְ אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־י֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י וַיְקַדֵּ֖שׁ אֹת֑וֹ כִּ֣י ב֤וֹ שָׁבַת֙ מִכָּל־מְלַאכְתּ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁר־בָּרָ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ (פ)
(31) And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. (1) And the heaven and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. (2) And on the seventh day God finished His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. (3) And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it He rested from all His work which God in creating had made.
