Finding Ruth Clue #3

That's it! Ruth decides to go to Israel with Naomi while Orpah returns to her family and stays in Moab.

But Ruth replied, “Do not urge me to leave you, to turn back and not follow you. For wherever you go, I will go; wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus and more may the LORD do to me if anything but death parts me from you.”

Clue #3

When Ruth and Naomi returned to Israel, it was the beginning of the barley harvest. In those days, it was very difficult for two women to survive economically by themselves so they needed some help.

The next part of the story involves an agricultural law called "leket "(לקט) or "gleaning".

To learn about gleaning, type "gleaning" into the search bar and select the entry in the drop down menu that begins with #.

The mitzvah of gleaning is first mentioned in the Torah.
