R. Simon b. Gamaliel again reasoned: Just as in most years [we think of] Adar as adjoining Nisan, so here [we keep the precepts] in the Adar which adjoins Nisan. Now we understand R. Eliezer son of R. Jose taking the view he did, because it is inherently probable, it being a rule that we do not postpone the performance of religious precepts. But what is the reason of R. Simon b. Gamaliel? — R. Tabi said: The reason of R. Simon b. Gamaliel is that more weight is to be attached to bringing one period of redemption close to another.
(א) שואלין בהלכות פסח קודם לפסח שלושים יום.
We inquire as to the laws of Passover thirty days beforehand.
אמר רב יהודה בריה דרב שמואל בר שילת משמיה דרב כשם שמשנכנס אב ממעטין בשמחה כך משנכנס אדר מרבין בשמחה
Rav Yehuda son of Rav Shemuel son of Sheilat said in the name of Rav: Just as when Av enters we decrease our happiness, when Adar enters we increase our happiness.

These were days of miracles for the Jews: Purim and Passover
רבי בא בשם רבי חייה בר אשי אין מפסיקין בין פורים לפרה רבי לוי בשם ר"ח בר חנינה אין מפסיקין בין פרה להחודש אמר רבי לוי סימניהון דאילין פרשתא בין הכוסות הללו אם רצה לשתות ישתה בין השלישי לרביעי לא ישתה
Rebbi said in the name of Rabbi Chiya bar Ashi: We do not pause between Purim and Parah. Rabbi Levi said in the name of Rav Channan bar Chanania: We do not pause between Parah and HaChodesh. Rabbi Levi compared these readings to the cups [of the Passover seder], if in between the cups you wish to drink you can, but not in between the third and fourth.
