(13) Who is the man that desireth life, and loveth days, That he may see good therein? (14) Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking guile. (15) Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it.
ברכות טז:
רבי חייא, בתר דמצלי - אמר הכי: יהי רצון מלפניך ה' אלהינו שתהא תורתך אומנותנו ואל ידוה לבנו ואל יחשכו עינינו

R. Hiyya used to add at the conclusion of his prayer
May it be Thy will, O Lord our God, that Thy Torah be our occupation ; and let not our heart grow faint nor our eyes dim.
Berachot 17A
Mar b. Rabina used to add at the conclusion of his prayer :
My God! Guard my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking guile ; and to those that curse me, let my soul be silent, and let my soul be unto all as the dust. Open my heart to your Torah, and let my soul pursue your commandments. And deliver me from mishap, from the evil impulse, and from an evil woman and all evil which breaks forth to come upon the world. If anyone should design evil against me, speedily annul their plans, and frustrate their designs. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable before Thee, O Lord my Rock and Redeemer.

It has been reported : If pieces of bread and whole loaves were set before them, Rab Huna declares that the benediction is to be pronounced over the pieces and it is not necessary over the loave. R. Johanan declared :[To say the benediction over] the whole loaf is the best way to perform the religious duty ; but should there be a piece of wheaten-bread and a loaf of barley-bread, all agree that the benediction should be pronounced over the former and is unnecessary over the latter.Rab Nahman b. Isaac said : He who fears Heaven complies with the regulation of the law according to the teaching of both ; and who is it [that acts thus]? Mar b. Rabina, for he used to place the piece of bread with the whole loaf and break both.

Mar b. Rabina made a wedding-feast for his son, and noticed that the Rabbis were very merry. He seized a costly goblet worth four hundred Zuz and broke it before them, and they became more serious.

And Mar b. Rabina was passing through the valley of 'Arabot and thirsted for water ; a miracle was wrought for him and a well was created and he drank. On another occasion, he was passing through the market-place of Mahoza when a wild camel attacked him, and the wall was cleft for him and he went through it. Whenever he came to 'Arabot he said the benediction "Blessed... Who hast wrought for me a miracle in 'Arabot and with the camel" ; and whenever he came to the market-place of Mahoza he said, "Blessed... Who hast wrought for me a miracle with the camel and in 'Arabot." They answer : In the case of a miracle wrought on behalf of the many, everybody is obliged to utter the benediction; but in the case of a miracle wrought on behalf of an individual, only he is obliged to say it.
Rava said: If I am bitten by a louse, I can no longer learn. The mother of Mar, son of Ravina, would prepare seven garments for him for the seven days of the week (so that he would not be bitten by lice)
