(ה) שִׁמְע֥וֹן וְלֵוִ֖י אַחִ֑ים כְּלֵ֥י חָמָ֖ס מְכֵרֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ (ו) בְּסֹדָם֙ אַל־תָּבֹ֣א נַפְשִׁ֔י בִּקְהָלָ֖ם אַל־תֵּחַ֣ד כְּבֹדִ֑י כִּ֤י בְאַפָּם֙ הָ֣רְגוּ אִ֔ישׁ וּבִרְצֹנָ֖ם עִקְּרוּ־שֽׁוֹר׃ (ז) אָר֤וּר אַפָּם֙ כִּ֣י עָ֔ז וְעֶבְרָתָ֖ם כִּ֣י קָשָׁ֑תָה אֲחַלְּקֵ֣ם בְּיַעֲקֹ֔ב וַאֲפִיצֵ֖ם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (ס)
(5) Simeon and Levi are a pair; Their weapons are tools of lawlessness. (6) Let not my person be included in their council, Let not my being be counted in their assembly. For when angry they slay men, And when pleased they maim oxen. (7) Cursed be their anger so fierce, And their wrath so relentless. I will divide them in Jacob, Scatter them in Israel.
(א) שמעון ולוי אחים. בעבור מעשה שכם
SHIMON AND LEVI ARE BROTHERS—For their actions [in] Shechem
(ב)...בסודם. כמו בהוסדם יחד עלי. אחר שכליהם הם חמם אל תבא נפשי בסודם
IN THEIR SECRET (COUNCIL)— As if their secret was hidden with me. Also, their thoughts are hot [with anger] to bring my soul to their secrets.
(א) ארור אפם כי עז. דרך נבואה, או דרך תפלה שיחסר אפם וטוב להם כי ארור הפך ברוך וכאשר הברכה תוספת הארירה מגרעת
(1) Cursed be their anger. He prophesied — or prayed — that their fiery tempers would cool down.
(ג) וכן אחלקם. ואפיצם. והטעם שהם אלה ראויים שיפרדו ולא יתחברו יחדו והנ' מצאנו כי גורל שמעון נפל בתוך נחלת בני יהודה והנ' הוא ברשות אחר, וגם עריו לא היו דבקים זו לזו. רק מפוזרות בינות גורל יהודה. גם כן לוי שהיו לו שמנה וארבעים עיר והן מפוזרות בינות השבטים
