שאול באחת ועלתה לו דוד בשתים ולא עלתה לו שאול באחת מאי היא מעשה דאגג ... דוד בשתים מאי נינהו דאוריה ודהסתה
(3) Shaul erred in one matter and it was reckoned against him. Dovid erred in two sins and it was not reckoned against him.
What was the one sin of Shaul?
The incident of Agag.
What were the two sins of Dovid?
The incident of Uriyah and the incident of the census.
(יג) וַיָּבֹא שְׁמוּאֵל אֶל שָׁאוּל וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ שָׁאוּל בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה לַי-הוָה הֲקִימֹתִי אֶת דְּבַר יְ-הוָה.
(13) And Shmuel came to Shaul; and Shaul said to him: ‘Blessed be G-d; I have performed the commandment of the G-d.’
(ב) (שמות יט, יז) ויתיצבו בתחתית ההר א"ר אבדימי בר חמא בר חסא מלמד שכפה הקב"ה עליהם את ההר כגיגית ואמר להם אם אתם מקבלים התורה מוטב ואם לאו שם תהא קבורתכם א"ר אחא בר יעקב מכאן מודעא רבה לאורייתא אמר רבא אעפ"כ הדור קבלוה בימי אחשורוש דכתיב (אסתר ט, כז) קימו וקבלו היהודים קיימו מה שקיבלו כבר
(2) The verse says in Shemot (19:17): "they stood in the bottom of the mountain."
Rav Avdimi bar Chama bar Chasa said: This teaches that the Holy One, Blesses is He, covered them with the mountain as though it were an upturned vat. He said to them: "If you accept the Torah, fine. If not, your burial will be here."
Rav Acha bar Yaakov said: From here stems strong ground for a notification of coercion regarding acceptance of the Torah.
Rava said: Nevertheless, they accepted the Torah again in the days of Achashverosh, as it is written: "The Jews established and accepted."
They established in the days of Achashverosh, that which they had already accepted in the days of Moses.
