(14) And Abraham arose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away; and she departed, and strayed in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.
(1) "Bread and bottle of water" - and not silver and gold because [Avraham] had hatred for him because [Ishmael] went out into a bad culture.
I didn't know Avraham hated Ishmael.
(2) "And the boy" - (Bereishis Rabbah) Even the boy was placed on [Hagai's] shoulder, since Sarah placed in him an evil eye and he got a fever and couldn't walk on his feet.
Why would Sarah place an evil eye on Ishmael, that's horrible.
