"Because You Were Strangers in Egypt"
1 א
(9) You shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the feelings of the stranger, having yourselves been strangers in the land of Egypt.
2 ב

(33) When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not wrong him. (34) The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as one of your citizens; love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt...

(8) A new king arose over Egypt... (9) And he said to his people, “Look, the Israelite people are much too numerous for us. (10) Let us deal shrewdly with them, so that they may not increase; otherwise in the event of war they may join our enemies in fighting against us... (11) So they set taskmasters over them to oppress them with forced labor...

(12) Observe the sabbath day and keep it holy... (13) Six days you shall labor... (14) but the seventh day is a sabbath... don't do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your ox or your ass... or the stranger in your settlements, so that your male and female slave may rest as you do. (15) Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt... therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the sabbath day.
