רות רבה (וילנא) פרשה ה:ט
א"ר אבון העני הזה עומד על פתחך והקב"ה עומד על ימינו אם נתת לו זה שעומד על ימינו מברכך ואם לאו הוא עתיד ליפרע מאותו האיש, שנאמר (תהלים ק"ט) כי יעמוד לימין אביון, א"ר אבהו צריכין אנו להחזיק טובה לרמאין שבהן
R. Abun said: The poor man stands at your door, and the Holy One, blessed be He, stands at his right hand. If you give unto him, He who stands at his right hand will bless you, but if not, He will exact punishment from you, as it is said, "Because He stands at the right hand of the needy." (Psalms 109:31)
