Babylonian Talmud, Baba Metzia 58b
A Tanna retold this before Rabbi Nachman son of Yitzchak: One who embarrasses another in public, it is as if that person shed blood. [AJWS translation]

Suggested Discussion Questions:

1. In what ways is embarrassment equal to death?

2. How does embarrassing someone affect them in that moment? What about the effects later on?

Time Period: Rabbinic (Maccabees through the Talmud)
