אמר ר' חמא בר אושעיא אדם חש בעינו, נותן ממון הרבה לרופא ספק מתרפא ספק אינו מתרפא, והנוטל שוחד מקלקל הדין, ומעוור את עיניו, וגורם גלות לישראל, ומביא רעב לעולם, שנאמר צדק צדק תרדוף למען תחיה וירשת (דברים טז כ), ואם לאו לא תירש
Rabbi Chamah Bar Ossiah said that if one senses (a problem) with one’s eye, one will pay a considerable amount of money to a doctor on the chance that he will be cured. And one who takes a bribe perverts the court, blinds his eyes, causes the exile of Israel and brings famine to the world, as it is said, Justice, justice you shall pursue in order that you may inherit the earth (Deut. 16:20) and if [you do not pursue justice] then you will not inherit it.
