ד) אפס כי לא יהיה בך אביון, ולהלן הוא אומר +דברים טו יא+ כי לא יחדל אביון מקרב הארץ בזמן שאתם עושים רצונו של מקום אביונים באחרים וכשאין אתם עושים רצונו של מקום אביונים בכם
“There shall not be in your presence any poor person” (Deuteronomy 15:4); [but] later on it says: “There will never cease to be needy ones in the land” (Deuteronomy 15:11). When you do God’s will, the impoverished will be amongst the others; but when you do not do God’s will, the impoverished will be in you. [Translation by Uri L’Tzedek]
