— Hith. - הִתְמַצֵּא he found his way, took his bearings. [The orig. meaning of this base was ‘to reach’, ‘come upon’. It is related to Aram. מְצָא, BAram. and Syr. מְטָא (= he reached, came upon), Ethiop. maṣ’a (= he came, arrived), Arab. ’anṭā, Ethiop. maṣ’a (= he reached). Akka. māṣu (= to be wide, be abundant).
