בְּנֵ֖י לֵוִ֑י גֵּרְשֹׁ֕ם קְהָ֖ת וּמְרָרִֽי׃ The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.
וְאֵ֛לֶּה שְׁמ֥וֹת בְּֽנֵי־גֵרְשׁ֖וֹם לִבְנִ֥י וְשִׁמְעִֽי׃ And these are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.
וּבְנֵ֖י קְהָ֑ת עַמְרָ֣ם וְיִצְהָ֔ר וְחֶבְר֖וֹן וְעֻזִּיאֵֽל׃ {ס} The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
בְּנֵ֥י מְרָרִ֖י מַחְלִ֣י וּמֻשִׁ֑י וְאֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּח֥וֹת הַלֵּוִ֖י לַאֲבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These were the families of the Levites according to their clans.
לְֽגֵרְשׁ֑וֹם לִבְנִ֥י בְנ֛וֹ יַ֥חַת בְּנ֖וֹ זִמָּ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃ Of Gershom: his son Libni, his son Jahath, his son Zimmah,
יוֹאָ֤ח בְּנוֹ֙ עִדּ֣וֹ בְנ֔וֹ זֶ֥רַח בְּנ֖וֹ יְאׇתְרַ֥י בְּנֽוֹ׃ his son Joah, his son Iddo, his son Zerah, his son Jeatherai.
בְּנֵ֖י קְהָ֑ת עַמִּינָדָ֣ב בְּנ֔וֹ קֹ֥רַח בְּנ֖וֹ אַסִּ֥יר בְּנֽוֹ׃ The sons of Kohath: his son Amminadab, his son Korah, his son Assir,
אֶלְקָנָ֥ה בְנ֛וֹ וְאֶבְיָסָ֥ף בְּנ֖וֹ וְאַסִּ֥יר בְּנֽוֹ׃ his son Elkanah, his son Ebiasaph, his son Assir,
תַּ֤חַת בְּנוֹ֙ אוּרִיאֵ֣ל בְּנ֔וֹ עֻזִּיָּ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ וְשָׁא֥וּל בְּנֽוֹ׃ his son Tahath, his son Uriel, his son Uzziah, and his son Shaul.
וּבְנֵי֙ אֶלְקָנָ֔ה עֲמָשַׂ֖י וַאֲחִימֽוֹת׃ The sons of Elkanah: Amasai and Ahimoth,
אֶלְקָנָ֑ה (בנו) [בְּנֵי֙] אֶלְקָנָ֔ה צוֹפַ֥י בְּנ֖וֹ וְנַ֥חַת בְּנֽוֹ׃ his son Elkanah, his son Zophai, his son Nahath,
אֱלִיאָ֥ב בְּנ֛וֹ יְרֹחָ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ אֶלְקָנָ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃ his son Eliab, his son Jeroham, his son Elkanah.
וּבְנֵ֧י שְׁמוּאֵ֛ל הַבְּכֹ֥ר וַשְׁנִ֖י וַאֲבִיָּֽה׃ {ס} The sons of Samuel: his first-born aSome ancient vv. read “Joel, and the second”; cf. 1 Sam. 8.2.Vashni, and-a Abijah.
בְּנֵ֥י מְרָרִ֖י מַחְלִ֑י לִבְנִ֥י בְנ֛וֹ שִׁמְעִ֥י בְנ֖וֹ עֻזָּ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃ The sons of Merari: Mahli, his son Libni, his son Shimei, his son Uzzah,
שִׁמְעָ֥א בְנ֛וֹ חַגִּיָּ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ עֲשָׂיָ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃ {פ}
his son Shimea, his son Haggiah, and his son Asaiah.
וְאֵ֗לֶּה אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֶעֱמִ֥יד דָּוִ֛יד עַל־יְדֵי־שִׁ֖יר בֵּ֣ית יְהֹוָ֑ה מִמְּנ֖וֹחַ הָאָרֽוֹן׃ These were appointed by David to be in charge of song in the House of the LORD, from the time the Ark came to rest.
וַיִּֽהְי֨וּ מְשָׁרְתִ֜ים לִפְנֵ֨י מִשְׁכַּ֤ן אֹֽהֶל־מוֹעֵד֙ בַּשִּׁ֔יר עַד־בְּנ֧וֹת שְׁלֹמֹ֛ה אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יְהֹוָ֖ה בִּירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וַיַּעַמְד֥וּ כְמִשְׁפָּטָ֖ם עַל־עֲבוֹדָתָֽם׃ They served at the Tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting with song until Solomon built the House of the LORD in Jerusalem; and they carried out their duties as prescribed for them.
וְאֵ֥לֶּה הָעֹמְדִ֖ים וּבְנֵיהֶ֑ם מִבְּנֵי֙ הַקְּהָתִ֔י הֵימָן֙ הַמְשׁוֹרֵ֔ר בֶּן־יוֹאֵ֖ל בֶּן־שְׁמוּאֵֽל׃ Those were the appointed men; and their sons were: the Kohathites: Heman the singer, son of Joel son of Samuel
בֶּן־אֶלְקָנָה֙ בֶּן־יְרֹחָ֔ם בֶּן־אֱלִיאֵ֖ל בֶּן־תּֽוֹחַ׃ son of Elkanah son of Jeroham son of Eliel son of Toah
בֶּן־[צוּף֙] (ציף) בֶּן־אֶלְקָנָ֔ה בֶּן־מַ֖חַת בֶּן־עֲמָשָֽׂי׃ son of Zuph son of Elkanah son of Mahath son of Amasai
בֶּן־אֶלְקָנָה֙ בֶּן־יוֹאֵ֔ל בֶּן־עֲזַרְיָ֖ה בֶּן־צְפַנְיָֽה׃ son of Elkanah son of Joel son of Azariah son of Zephaniah
בֶּן־תַּ֙חַת֙ בֶּן־אַסִּ֔יר בֶּן־אֶבְיָסָ֖ף בֶּן־קֹֽרַח׃ son of Tahath son of Assir son of Ebiasaph son of Korah
בֶּן־יִצְהָ֣ר בֶּן־קְהָ֔ת בֶּן־לֵוִ֖י בֶּן־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ {ס} son of Izhar son of Kohath son of Levi son of Israel;
וְאָחִ֣יו אָסָ֔ף הָעֹמֵ֖ד עַל־יְמִינ֑וֹ אָסָ֥ף בֶּן־בֶּרֶכְיָ֖הוּ בֶּן־שִׁמְעָֽא׃ and his kinsman Asaph, who stood on his right, namely, Asaph son of Berechiah son of Shimea
בֶּן־מִיכָאֵ֥ל בֶּן־בַּעֲשֵׂיָ֖ה בֶּן־מַלְכִּיָּֽה׃ son of Michael son of Baaseiah son of Malchijah
בֶּן־אֶתְנִ֥י בֶן־זֶ֖רַח בֶּן־עֲדָיָֽה׃ son of Ethni son of Zerah son of Adaiah
בֶּן־אֵיתָ֥ן בֶּן־זִמָּ֖ה בֶּן־שִׁמְעִֽי׃ son of Ethan son of Zimmah son of Shimei
בֶּן־יַ֥חַת בֶּן־גֵּרְשֹׁ֖ם בֶּן־לֵוִֽי׃ {ס} son of Jahath son of Gershom son of Levi.
וּבְנֵ֧י מְרָרִ֛י אֲחֵיהֶ֖ם עַֽל־הַשְּׂמֹ֑אול אֵיתָן֙ בֶּן־קִישִׁ֔י בֶּן־עַבְדִּ֖י בֶּן־מַלּֽוּךְ׃ On the left were their kinsmen: the sons of Merari: Ethan son of Kishi son of Abdi son of Malluch
בֶּן־חֲשַׁבְיָ֥ה בֶן־אֲמַצְיָ֖ה בֶּן־חִלְקִיָּֽה׃ son of Hashabiah son of Amaziah son of Hilkiah
בֶּן־אַמְצִ֥י בֶן־בָּנִ֖י בֶּן־שָֽׁמֶר׃ son of Amzi son of Bani son of Shemer
בֶּן־מַחְלִי֙ בֶּן־מוּשִׁ֔י בֶּן־מְרָרִ֖י בֶּן־לֵוִֽי׃ {ס} son of Mahli son of Mushi son of Merari son of Levi;
וַאֲחֵיהֶ֖ם הַלְוִיִּ֑ם נְתוּנִ֕ים לְכׇ֨ל־עֲבוֹדַ֔ת מִשְׁכַּ֖ן בֵּ֥ית הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ and their kinsmen the Levites were appointed for all the service of the Tabernacle of the House of God.
וְֽאַהֲרֹ֨ן וּבָנָ֜יו מַקְטִירִ֨ים עַל־מִזְבַּ֤ח הָעוֹלָה֙ וְעַל־מִזְבַּ֣ח הַקְּטֹ֔רֶת לְכֹ֕ל מְלֶ֖אכֶת קֹ֣דֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁ֑ים וּלְכַפֵּר֙ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כְּכֹל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֔ה מֹשֶׁ֖ה עֶ֥בֶד הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ {פ}
But Aaron and his sons made offerings upon the altar of burnt offering and upon the altar of incense, performing all the tasks of the most holy place, to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.
וְאֵ֖לֶּה בְּנֵ֣י אַהֲרֹ֑ן אֶלְעָזָ֥ר בְּנ֛וֹ פִּֽינְחָ֥ס בְּנ֖וֹ אֲבִישׁ֥וּעַ בְּנֽוֹ׃ These are the sons of Aaron: his son Eleazar, his son Phinehas, his son Abishua,
בֻּקִּ֥י בְנ֛וֹ עֻזִּ֥י בְנ֖וֹ זְרַֽחְיָ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃ his son Bukki, his son Uzzi, his son Zerahiah,
מְרָי֥וֹת בְּנ֛וֹ אֲמַרְיָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ אֲחִיט֥וּב בְּנֽוֹ׃ his son Meraioth, his son Amariah, his son Ahitub,
צָד֥וֹק בְּנ֖וֹ אֲחִימַ֥עַץ בְּנֽוֹ׃ {ס} his son Zadok, his son Ahimaaz.
וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ מֽוֹשְׁבוֹתָ֔ם לְטִירוֹתָ֖ם בִּגְבוּלָ֑ם לִבְנֵ֤י אַֽהֲרֹן֙ לְמִשְׁפַּחַ֣ת הַקְּהָתִ֔י כִּ֥י לָהֶ֖ם הָיָ֥ה הַגּוֹרָֽל׃ bWith vv. 24–51, cf. Josh. 21.3–42.These are their dwelling-places according to their settlements within their borders: to the sons of Aaron of the families of Kohathites, for theirs was the [first] lot;
וַֽיִּתְּנ֥וּ לָהֶ֛ם אֶת־חֶבְר֖וֹן בְּאֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֑ה וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֖יהָ סְבִיבֹתֶֽיהָ׃ they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah and its surrounding pasturelands,
וְאֶת־שְׂדֵ֥ה הָעִ֖יר וְאֶת־חֲצֵרֶ֑יהָ נָתְנ֖וּ לְכָלֵ֥ב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּֽה׃ {ס} but the fields of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh.
וְלִבְנֵ֣י אַהֲרֹ֗ן נָֽתְנוּ֙ אֶת־עָרֵ֣י הַמִּקְלָ֔ט אֶת־חֶבְר֥וֹן וְאֶת־לִבְנָ֖ה וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶת־יַתִּ֥ר וְאֶֽת־אֶשְׁתְּמֹ֖עַ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ To the sons of Aaron they gave the citiescJosh. 21.13, “city.” of refuge: Hebron and Libnah with its pasturelands, Jattir and Eshtemoa with its pasturelands,
וְאֶת־חִילֵז֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ אֶת־דְּבִ֖יר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ Hilen with its pasturelands, Debir with its pasturelands,
וְאֶת־עָשָׁן֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־בֵּ֥ית שֶׁ֖מֶשׁ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ {ס} Ashan with its pasturelands, and Beth-shemesh with its pasturelands.
וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה בִנְיָמִ֗ן אֶת־גֶּ֤בַע וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֙יהָ֙ וְאֶת־עָלֶ֣מֶת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־עֲנָת֖וֹת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ כׇּל־עָרֵיהֶ֛ם שְׁלֹשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה עִ֖יר בְּמִשְׁפְּחוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ {ס} From the tribe of Benjamin, Geba with its pasturelands, Alemeth with its pasturelands, and Anathoth with its pasturelands. All their cities throughout their families were thirteen.
וְלִבְנֵ֨י קְהָ֜ת הַנּֽוֹתָרִ֗ים מִמִּשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַמַּטֶּ֡ה מִֽ֠מַּחֲצִ֠ית מַטֵּ֨ה חֲצִ֧י מְנַשֶּׁ֛ה בַּגּוֹרָ֖ל עָרִ֥ים עָֽשֶׂר׃ {פ}
To the remaining Kohathites were given by lot out of the family of the tribe, out of the half-tribe, the half of Manasseh, ten cities.
וְלִבְנֵ֨י גֵרְשׁ֜וֹם לְמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָ֗ם מִמַּטֵּ֣ה יִ֠שָּׂשכָ֠ר וּמִמַּטֵּ֨ה אָשֵׁ֜ר וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה נַפְתָּלִ֗י וּמִמַּטֵּ֤ה מְנַשֶּׁה֙ בַּבָּשָׁ֔ן עָרִ֖ים שְׁלֹ֥שׁ עֶשְׂרֵֽה׃ {ס} To the Gershomites according to their families were allotted thirteen cities out of the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and Manasseh in Bashan.
לִבְנֵ֨י מְרָרִ֜י לְמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָ֗ם מִמַּטֵּ֣ה רְ֠אוּבֵ֠ן וּֽמִמַּטֵּה־גָ֞ד וּמִמַּטֵּ֤ה זְבֻלוּן֙ בַּגּוֹרָ֔ל עָרִ֖ים שְׁתֵּ֥ים עֶשְׂרֵֽה׃ {ס} To the Merarites according to their families were allotted twelve cities out of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
וַיִּתְּנ֥וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לַלְוִיִּ֑ם אֶת־הֶעָרִ֖ים וְאֶת־מִגְרְשֵׁיהֶֽם׃ So the people of Israel gave the Levites the cities with their pasturelands.
וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ בַגּוֹרָ֗ל מִמַּטֵּ֤ה בְנֵֽי־יְהוּדָה֙ וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה בְנֵֽי־שִׁמְע֔וֹן וּמִמַּטֵּ֖ה בְּנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִ֑ן אֵ֚ת הֶעָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה אֲשֶׁר־יִקְרְא֥וּ אֶתְהֶ֖ם בְּשֵׁמֽוֹת׃ {ס} They gave them by lot out of the tribe of the Judahites these cities that are mentioned by name, and out of the tribe of the Simeonites, and out of the tribe of the Benjaminites.
וּמִֽמִּשְׁפְּח֖וֹת בְּנֵ֣י קְהָ֑ת וַֽיְהִי֙ עָרֵ֣י גְבוּלָ֔ם מִמַּטֵּ֖ה אֶפְרָֽיִם׃ And some of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their territory out of the tribe of Ephraim.
וַיִּתְּנ֨וּ לָהֶ֜ם אֶת־עָרֵ֧י הַמִּקְלָ֛ט אֶת־שְׁכֶ֥ם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֖יהָ בְּהַ֣ר אֶפְרָ֑יִם וְאֶת־גֶּ֖זֶר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ They gave them the cities of refuge: Shechem with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim, Gezer with its pasturelands,
וְאֶֽת־יׇקְמְעָם֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־בֵּ֥ית חוֹר֖וֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ Jokmeam with its pasturelands, Beth-horon with its pasturelands,
וְאֶת־אַיָּלוֹן֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־גַּת־רִמּ֖וֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ Aijalon with its pasturelands, Gath-rimmon with its pasturelands;
וּמִֽמַּחֲצִית֙ מַטֵּ֣ה מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה אֶת־עָנֵר֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־בִּלְעָ֖ם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ לְמִשְׁפַּ֥חַת לִבְנֵֽי־קְהָ֖ת הַנּוֹתָרִֽים׃ {פ}
and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh: Aner with its pasturelands, and Bileam with its pasturelands, for the rest of the families of the Kohathites.
לִבְנֵי֮ גֵּרְשׁוֹם֒ מִמִּשְׁפַּ֗חַת חֲצִי֙ מַטֵּ֣ה מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה אֶת־גּוֹלָ֥ן בַּבָּשָׁ֖ן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶת־עַשְׁתָּר֖וֹת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ To the Gershomites; out of the half-tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan with its pasturelands and Ashtaroth with its pasturelands;
וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה יִשָּׂשכָ֔ר אֶת־קֶ֖דֶשׁ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ אֶת־דָּבְרַ֖ת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ and out of the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh with its pasturelands, Dobrath with its pasturelands,
וְאֶת־רָאמוֹת֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־עָנֵ֖ם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ {ס} Ramoth with its pasturelands, and Anem with its pasturelands;
וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה אָשֵׁ֔ר אֶת־מָשָׁ֖ל וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶת־עַבְדּ֖וֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ out of the tribe of Asher: Mashal with its pasturelands, Abdon with its pasturelands,
וְאֶת־חוּקֹק֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־רְחֹ֖ב וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ {ס} Hukok with its pasturelands, and Rehob with its pasturelands;
וּמִמַּטֵּ֣ה נַפְתָּלִ֗י אֶת־קֶ֤דֶשׁ בַּגָּלִיל֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־חַמּ֖וֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶת־קִרְיָתַ֖יִם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ {ס} and out of the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee with its pasturelands; Hammon with its pasturelands, and Kiriathaim with its pasturelands.
לִבְנֵ֣י מְרָרִי֮ הַנּוֹתָרִים֒ מִמַּטֵּ֣ה זְבֻל֔וּן אֶת־רִמּוֹנ֖וֹ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ אֶת־תָּב֖וֹר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ To the rest of the Merarites, out of the tribe of Zebulun: Rimmono with its pasturelands, Tabor with its pasturelands;
וּמֵעֵ֜בֶר לְיַרְדֵּ֣ן יְרֵחוֹ֮ לְמִזְרַ֣ח הַיַּרְדֵּן֒ מִמַּטֵּ֣ה רְאוּבֵ֔ן אֶת־בֶּ֥צֶר בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶת־יַ֖הְצָה וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ and beyond the Jordan at Jericho, on the east side of the Jordan, out of the tribe of Reuben: Bezer in the wilderness with its pasturelands, Jahaz with its pasturelands,
וְאֶת־קְדֵמוֹת֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־מֵיפַ֖עַת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ Kedemoth with its pasturelands, and Mephaath with its pasturelands;
וּמִ֨מַּטֵּה־גָ֔ד אֶת־רָאמ֥וֹת בַּגִּלְעָ֖ד וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֑יהָ וְאֶֽת־מַחֲנַ֖יִם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ and out of the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead with its pasturelands, Mahanaim with its pasturelands,
וְאֶת־חֶשְׁבּוֹן֙ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁ֔יהָ וְאֶת־יַעְזֵ֖יר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃ {ס} Heshbon with its pasturelands, and Jazer with its pasturelands.
