(ה) הוּא הָיָה אוֹמֵר, אֵין בּוּר יְרֵא חֵטְא, וְלֹא עַם הָאָרֶץ חָסִיד, וְלֹא הַבַּיְשָׁן לָמֵד, וְלֹא הַקַּפְּדָן מְלַמֵּד, וְלֹא כָל הַמַּרְבֶּה בִסְחוֹרָה מַחְכִּים. וּבְמָקוֹם שֶׁאֵין אֲנָשִׁים, הִשְׁתַּדֵּל לִהְיוֹת אִישׁ:
(5) He was accustomed to say: A boor cannot fear sin. An ignorant person cannot be pious. A person prone to being ashamed cannot learn. An impatient person cannot teach. Not all who engage in a lot of business become wise. In a place where there is no man, strive to be a man.
כל המלבין פני חבירו ברבים כאילו שופך דמים
He who whiten the face of his friend (embarasses him) is as if he has shed blood.
(א) החובל בחברו חייב עליו משום חמשה דברים. בנזק. בצער. ברפוי. בשבת. ובבשת.
(1) One who injures his fellow is liable concerning him for five categories [of payment]: damages, pain, healthcare, unemployment, and shame.
אדם שיש בידו עבירה ומתודה ואינו חוזר בה למה הוא דומה לאדם שתופס שרץ בידו שאפי' טובל בכל מימות שבעולם לא עלתה לו טבילה
A person who has sinned and confesses but does not change, to what can he be compared? To a person who immerses [in a mikvah] with a rodent in his hand, for even if he were to immerse forever, his immersion would not matter.

By divine consent and by the consent of this congregation, with the authority of the court on high and the court below, we grant permission to pray with those who have transgressed.
וְהָאֵר עֵינֵינוּ בְּתּוֹרָתֶךָ וְדַבֵּק לִבֵּנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתֶיךָ וְיַחֵד לְבָבֵנוּ לְאַהֲבָה וּלְיִרְאָה אֶת שְׁמֶךָ. וְלֹא נֵבוֹשׁ לְעוֹלָם ועד.

And enlighten our eyes to Your Torah, and help us to cling to Your mitzvot, and unite our hearts in love and in awe of Your name - and we will never be ashamed.

Weekday Amidah
And upon the righteous people and the faithful, and upon the elders of your people, the House of Israel, and upon the remnants of their sages, and upon the righteous converts, and upon us. Have mercy, HaShem our G-d. And give reward to all those who trust in your holy name with truth. And place our fate with them forever, and we will never be ashamed since in you we trust. Blessed are You, HaShem, the support and security of the righteous.
